The Complex of Hue Monuments (World Cultural Heritage)

The Complex of Hue Monuments, recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1993, is located in and around Hue City in central Vietnam. It was the political, cultural, and religious centre of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 - 1945). Carefully integrated into its natural surroundings, the complex reflects cosmological principles through its alignment with the Five Cardinal Points, Five Elements, and Five Colours. At its heart lies the Hue Citadel, which housed the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City, and royal palaces.
